BOB HOPE IN HEAVEN

BOB HOPE IN HEAVEN
I saw Bob Hope at Yokota Air Force Base outside of Tokyo, Japan in December 1951, right before Christmas. I have never seen a better show or showman. We laughed and ~ ~ ~ yes, we cried. He made us feel good, he made us feel important, and he made us feel loved by our family and friends for serving.

I think of Bob Hope every time I hear the song “Silent Night.”All GIs seem to just love Bob Hope. He spent his Christmases with our Men and Women in Military Service. He made us laugh at ourselves, and he made us laugh at everything else, too. He would make fun of the Commanding General of the Far East Air Forces and then eat with us Peons. You felt like he was your Buddy!!

That night I was walking back to the barracks with a Marine Buddy that said, “Bob Hope Makes us feel like we are somebody.” Yes, he does………………

Give me a sense of humor Lord, the grace to see a joke and pass it on to others.
